Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal have honoured women who have made remarkable contributions in various fields like education, culture, the army, singing, art, medicine, social welfare, empowerment, sports, aviation, mountaineering, etc. A state-level ‘Samman Samaroh’ was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Karnal on Friday.
Development and Panchayat Minister, Devender Singh Babli, and Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt. Kamlesh Dhanda, were also present on this occasion. In recognition of the improvement in the sex ratio, the Chief Minister awarded the Deputy Commissioners of the districts of Fatehabad, Ambala, and Jind with cash awards of Rs. 5 lakhs, Rs. 3 lakhs, and Rs. 2 lakhs, respectively.
Apart from these, for improving nutrition levels, the Deputy Commissioners of the districts of Faridabad, Narnaul, and Ambala received first-, second-, and third-place awards along with cash rewards of Rs. 2 lakh, Rs. 1 lakh, and Rs. 50,000 each.
The Chief Minister honored Manju Sharma with the Sushma Swaraj Award, Smt. Ritu Lather and Monika Sharma with the Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award, and Smt. Vandana with Kalpana Chawla. Shaurya Puruskar and Smt. Chandraprabha Madan with Lifetime Achievers Award.
