Govt implements school merger and transportation initiative for low-enrollment schools

Preparations Begin in Haryana to Merge Schools with Fewer than 20 Students.
The government will relocate students from these schools to nearby government schools. A list of about 7,349 such students has been compiled, who will be transferred to other nearby schools. The government plans to provide transportation facilities for these students.
Several months ago, the Education Department requested information about schools at the district level with fewer than 20 students. Now, 832 primary schools with less than 20 students have been identified in the state.
As most schools had fewer than 20 students, the government decided to shift these children to other government schools within a one-kilometer radius. The government has released a list of 7,349 children to be transferred to nearby government schools.
Among the transferred children, some have a distance greater than one kilometer between the first and second schools. Discussions will be held on providing transportation facilities for these children due to the distance covered.
Opposition parties questioned the decision to merge schools, prompting CM Manohar Lal and Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar to announce transportation facilities for the affected children.
Many government schools in the state face a shortage of teachers, leading to low enrollment. These children will soon be shifted to nearby schools, with the government arranging transportation facilities to address commuting challenges.
Two months ago, school children in Ratangarh requested Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal to start a bus service. As a result, the Chief Minister initiated a bus service from Ratangarh to Premnagar, which received appreciation from the public and students during the Jan Samvad program.
