GOVT EXPLORING IF ANTI-DEFECTION LAW COULD BE INVOKED IN J&K: DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P.K. Pole on Monday claimed that administration was in the process of verifying whether anti-defection law can be invoked in Jammu and Kashmir on the candidates who recently won DDC elections.

Media asked about the allegations leveled by PAGD leadership that police and administration were helping PAGD candidates to switch over the sides, intimidating them.

While talking to the media on the sidelines of the oath ceremony of newly elected DDC members at SKICC Srinagar he said that the government was trying to know legally on this matter.

Asking people to directly approach the newly elected members for the daily life issues like disruption in power supply, bad condition of roads, lack of water supply etc, he said they no longer have to approach bureaucracy.

However, Div Com Kashmir said that it will take some time for the government to also set right the mechanism of DDC members including their offices logistic arrangements etc. He prayed that every DDC member will work hard for common people and deliver them what they deserve on the ground.

Recently there have been a lot of allegations by the PAGD leadership claiming that their DDC candidates who have won were being forced to join JK Apni Party which was declared as the B team of BJP by Omar Abdullah.

Omar Abdullah made it clear that in the Shopian incident of forcing a DDC candidate of National Conference to join JK Apni Party, he said this is a party purely working for BJP.
