Government amid preps for fresh fight against Covid

In reviewing preparations to fight against coronavirus the central government is making sure that enough medical oxygen is available.

Earlier on Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting and warned that coronavirus is not over yet as China and other nations continue to see a massive uptick in cases.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya made it mandatory that those passengers who will be arriving from China, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand have to undergo an RT-PCR test.

Talking to the media Health Minister Mandaviya said, “The RT-PCR test to be mandatory for international arrivals from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Thailand. On arrival, if any passenger from these countries is found symptomatic or tests positive for Covid-19 infection, then he/she will be put under quarantine.”

Moreover, India has witnessed three waves of Covid and in the second wave, hospitals were buckled under the pressure in which many people lost their lives in 2021.

According to the Union Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan’s new advisory availability of liquid medical oxygen should be ensured and Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plants should be kept functional. Amid the pandemic, the availability of oxygen has been ensured by the government of India by “installing and commissioning PSA plants, oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, and other oxygen-related infrastructure to ensure availability reliably and cost-effectively”.

However, for the upcoming festive season, the health ministry also released guidelines. Globally lakhs of cases are being recorded henceforth few hundred cases are recorded in India.
