Governor, Chief Minister to attend 8th Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Day

The 8th Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Day will be organised on Sunday in honour of the ex-servicemen of the Indian Armed Forces. On this occasion, Governor Kalraj Mishra will lay a wreath in honour of the martyrs of the state at ‘Prerna Sthal’ at Jaipur Military Station. Also, the parents of the heroes, brave women and brave men will be felicitated at the Sapt Shakti Auditorium. On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will pay tribute to the brave martyrs of the state at Amar Jawan Jyoti Martyr Memorial.
Minister of Military Welfare Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Military Welfare Vijay Singh Choudhary and Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Command Lieutenant General Dheeraj Seth Wreaths will also lay wreaths in honour of the martyrs.
Special programs will also be organised at all the district headquarters to felicitate the proud fighters, brave women and holders of gallantry medals and Distinguished Service medals of the state.
Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Day is celebrated every year on 14 January. On this day in 1953, Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, who was the torch bearer of the Indian Army in the victory of the 1947 war, formally retired from the army.
This day is dedicated to honouring the ex-servicemen of the country.
