Governance void in J&K exacerbates public woes, says former minister Ajay Sadhotra

The absence of a popular government in Jammu and Kashmir has led to a governance void, where authorities across different departments have adopted a non-serious approach, leaving the woes of the people unattended. Ajay Sadhotra, Additional General Secretary and former minister of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), emphasized this concerning trend during a crucial meeting of the Jammu Central Zone at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu.

Sadhotra highlighted the lack of responsiveness in the governance structure, where nobody seems ready to address the genuine concerns of the people in the Union Territory. He underscored that the prolonged absence of Assembly elections has further compounded the difficulties faced by the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

The former minister’s remarks shed light on the disconnect between the authorities and the public due to the governance void. Sadhotra urged for the restoration of democratic processes in the region, emphasizing the critical need for a popularly elected government to effectively address the concerns and aspirations of the people.

As the meeting unfolded, leaders and participants delved into discussions about the pressing issues confronting the region in the absence of a popularly elected government. The gathering also focused on preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, with Sadhotra urging party workers to actively engage with the electorate and work towards garnering support for the party. He was speaking in meeting of the National Conference Jammu Central Zone at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu to discuss the prevailing political scenario.

Babu Rampal, Central Zone President of JKNC and former minister, presided over the meeting, which included key leaders such as Ajay Sadhotra, Additional General Secretary and former minister, and Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC.
