Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of DPAP, delivered an impassioned address at a sizable public gathering in Aishmuquam, Pahalgam, Kashmir. Encouraging unity among the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Azad invoked the timeless words of poet Allama Iqbal, “tumhari dastan na hogi dastanon mein,” urging the populace to transcend divisions and work collectively towards a brighter future.
Azad rallied the crowd against divisive forces seeking to oppress them, emphasizing the urgent need for unity to thwart such attempts. He appealed for a collective effort to combat poverty and accelerate development in the region, drawing upon his extensive track record as both Chief Minister and Union Health Minister. Azad stressed, “My sole aim is to uplift the poor and ensure peace. We are committed to revitalizing the tourism sector,” lamenting the untapped potential in South Kashmir and pledging to address this oversight.
Highlighting his staunch opposition to the revocation of Article 370, as well as the CAA/NRC and mob lynchings, Azad criticized the silence of MPs from the National Conference on these significant matters. He urged the people not to be swayed by political parties seeking to divide communities based on religion or region.
Azad shed light on the struggles of impoverished families burdened by educational loans and promised his government’s prioritization of job creation to address un- and underemployment.
He pledged to initiate thermal power projects and provide free electricity to impoverished households, aiming to alleviate their financial strain.
Furthermore, Azad committed to introducing legislation to safeguard land and jobs, ensuring livelihood security, and immediate restoration of statehood. He vowed to uphold and enhance schemes like the Roshni Scheme to empower marginalized communities and foster growth opportunities.
The rally was attended by notable figures including Mohd Yousef Gorsi, Chairman DDC Anantnag, Gulzar Wani Zonal President, Salman Nizami Chief Spokesperson, Mir Altaf Gen Secretary Province, Zameer Ahmed Distt President Anantnag, among others. Azad’s address resonated with the crowd, emphasizing the importance of unity, development, and equitable opportunities for all in Jammu and Kashmir.
