German Chancellor Olaf Scholz travels to Delhi for G20 Summit

Olaf Scholz, the chancellor of Germany, arrived in New Delhi today for the two-day G20 Summit, which is being hosted by India. Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, the Union’s State Minister for MSME, met him at the airport. To welcome the German chancellor, a group of dancers also performed a customary dance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met in May of this year to discuss the bilateral relationship’s progress and to exchange opinions on local and international issues. The two leaders recently met in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, Japan, on the margins of the 49th Group of Seven (G7) conference. PM Modi appreciated Germany’s support for the trade and investment agreements between India and the EU as well as for India’s G20 Presidency during the meeting.

The India-Germany Strategic Partnership is supported by shared values, mutual trust, and understanding. The bilateral connections between the two countries have improved thanks to increased economic and investment linkages, cooperation on green and sustainable development, and growing people-to-people contacts.

The 18th G20 Summit is being held at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre in New Delhi on September 9 and 10. A Leaders Declaration will be adopted at the conclusion of the New Delhi Summit. During the G20 presidency, India has focused on various issues like inclusive growth, digital innovation, climate resilience, and equitable global health access.

India is fostering cooperative solutions that benefit its own people and contribute to the overall well-being of the world by making use of its presidency. More than 30 heads of state, senior government officials, and invited guests from the European Union, as well as 14 heads of international organizations, are present at the summit.
