Minister of State for Cooperation, Gautam Kumar, officially took charge on Tuesday, commencing his tenure with prayers at the Mantralaya Building of the Government Secretariat. Following this, Kumar convened a meeting with departmental officers in the Cooperative Department, outlining his vision for fostering prosperity in the state through Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s Mission Sahakar. Addressing the officials associated with the Cooperative Department, Kumar emphasized the vast scope of the department, connecting one-third of the state’s population.
He urged them to uphold the original spirit with which cooperatives were formed and to carry out their work with integrity. Kumar stressed the importance of preventing negative perceptions of cooperatives among the public and promptly addressing complaints.
During the meeting, Kumar provided instructions to simplify the process of adding new members to village service cooperative societies, ensuring that eligible individuals can readily join.
He directed the formulation of a time-bound program for filling vacant administrator positions. Emphasizing the need for competitive and robust cooperative consumer shops, Kumar discussed strategies for providing essential goods at reasonable rates.
The Minister of State delved into various aspects of the cooperative sector, including the credit sector of banks, recruitment in central cooperative banks, facilitating farmers’ procurement processes, renovating animal feed plants, the status of primary land development cooperative banks, and the modernization of presses. He stressed the importance of ensuring smooth arrangements for the training of newly elected members and officials and directed the prompt resolution of complaints related to Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana within seven days.
