FROM MONDAY, OFFICES IN GUJARAT TO RESUME WITH 100 PER CENT STAFF

The second wave of the pandemic in Gujarat has started to attenuate considerably. Work in the government and private offices in Gujarat will be speeded up, and orders have been issued to dispose of the stuck files in fast track mode. The Chief Secretary of the state had recently apprised the top officials of all the departments of the Gandhinagar Secretariat that the cases of Covid-19 have declined. The public life is getting back to normalcy, and the government is also moving ahead in development and community-oriented work decisions.

All offices of state government will open on Saturday. Announcing the decision, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also said that from June 7, all offices of state government as well as private sector offices would be able to function with 100 per cent staff presence.

The Chief Secretary of State Anil Mukim has also directed the officials that if there is any problem or question under the policy decisions taken by the state government, it should be dealt with. It is time for all state officials to dispose of the pending files, he said. Mukim, who is due retirement in August 2021, has been given an extension of six months after he retires. Earlier, he had directed the top officials of the departments to dispose of the pending files of the department expeditiously so that the applicants could get speedy justice.

Covid-19 cases began to rise in March, but have been declining since the last week of May. The state government had announced the presence of only 50 per cent staff to ensure that the Coronavirus does not spread to the secretariat and this directive was followed by the departments. Due to the low number of employees in most of the departments of the state, the work of the applicants as well as the administration of the government has been hampered. Applicants’ files are pending. Work on government schemes has also been delayed.
