Fresh warning issued as land subsidence threatens Pernote village residents

SRINAGAR: The district administration of Ramban has issued a dire warning to residents of Pernote village amidst escalating concerns over land subsidence, urging immediate evacuation from two vulnerable wards.

In a concerning development, Nimnad and Telga wards of Pernote village have experienced significant land sinking, putting the lives of residents at grave risk, confirmed a district official.

Under the strict directives of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, Tehsildar Ramban has been tasked with overseeing the urgent evacuation of residents from the endangered wards, emphasizing the paramount importance of swift action to avert potential disasters.

The ongoing land subsidence has already prompted the relocation of numerous families to safer areas, as scores of residential structures have suffered damage due to the shifting terrain.

Despite evacuation efforts, the situation remains precarious, with a substantial portion of Pernote village continuing to descend towards Chinab village, exacerbating concerns for the safety and security of residents.
