Four arrested in Amritsar with 3 kg of heroin, Rs 9 lakhs drug money

The Punjab Police have cracked down on a drug trafficking network, arresting four individuals and seizing 3 kg of heroin along with Rs 9 lakhs in drug money. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, informed that those arrested were identified as Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky from Amritsar, Rashpal Singh from Hoshiarpur Nagar village, Gaurav alias Kali from Varayam Singh Colony in Amritsar, and Sahil Kumar alias Manthan from Durgiana Abadi, Amritsar.
In addition to apprehending the suspects with the confiscated heroin, the police teams seized their Innova car, which they were planning to use for supplying the heroin. CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar revealed that based on confidential information, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Investigation Harpreet Singh Mander and Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) City-3 Amandeep Rana oversaw the surveillance under the watchful eyes of CI Staff-1’s police teams.
The arrests took place during a special police check behind Gol Bagh, near Amritsar Railway Station, where the suspects were apprehended while attempting to deliver the consignment in their Innova car. CP Bhullar highlighted that one of the arrested individuals, Rashpal Singh, was already facing charges of theft and NDPS Act offenses in Amritsar rural and Tarn Taran.
CP Bhullar further stated that ongoing efforts are in place to determine the total quantity of narcotics acquired by the apprehended suspects. He added that investigations are underway to unearth the entire network of suppliers, dealers, and buyers associated with the arrested individuals. The CP emphasized that attempts are being made to identify the source of the seized narcotics.The Amritsar Division Police have filed an FIR under sections 21-C, 27-A, and 29 of the NDPS Act at D Division Police Station, Amritsar, dated December 10, 2023, for further legal proceedings.
