Former MLAs’ delegation advocates for scheduled castes community issues in meeting with Lt Governor

A delegation comprising former Legislators representing the Scheduled Castes (SC) community met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan today to discuss various issues pertinent to the community’s welfare.

Led by Dr. DK Manyal, former Minister, the delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with the Lt Governor regarding the UT Administration’s endeavors for the holistic development of the SC community.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the J&K administration under the leadership of the LG for their commitment to social justice, empowerment of women and youth, and socio-economic upliftment of the SC community, the delegation highlighted several key concerns.

Among the issues discussed were the necessity for reservation in promotion, the need for a comprehensive transfer policy for Jammu Based SC employees posted in Kashmir, augmentation of reservation quotas, and advocacy for the reservation of One Lok Sabha seat for the SC community in the J&K UT.

Furthermore, the delegation emphasized the importance of providing compensation to all landowners situated across the defense wire on the India-Pakistan border in the UT, extending land ownership rights to PoJK refugees, displaced persons, and West Pakistan Refugees, and ensuring the extension of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi benefits.

In response, the Lt Governor assured the former Legislators of the UT Administration’s commitment to addressing the issues and demands raised during the interaction, ensuring appropriate redressal and proactive measures for the welfare of the SC community.

The meeting witnessed the participation of prominent figures including Dr. KL Bhagat, Prof. GR Bhagat, Neelam Langeh, Kuldeep Kumar, former MLAs, and Dharminder Kumar, DDC Member, underscoring the collective effort towards advocating for the rights and concerns of the Scheduled Castes community.
