Former Chief Justice of India Kama Narain Singh died on Friday at his residence in Prayagraj. The former CJI remained CJI back in 1991 for the shortest period of 17 days.
Supreme Court issued a statement and said, “Shri Kamal Narain Singh, Former Chief Justice of India, has left for his heavenly abode today i.e, 8th September 2022 at 9:40 A.M. His last rites will be performed tomorrow i.e, on 9th September 2022 at Shanker Ghat, Rasulabad, Electric Crematorium, Allahabad.”
Earlier on March 10 in 1986 Singh was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, Singh was the 22nd CJI of India and was born on 13 December 1926. For the shortest period of 17 days, he remained CJI.
Moreover, on 25 November 1991, he was appointed as Chief Minister of India, and on 12 December 1991, he retired.
“Justice K.N Singh, Former Chief Justice of India has left for heavenly abode on September 8 at Allahabad,” Registrar (Protocol) Allahabad High Court said.
However, KN Singh’s funeral would take place on Friday at Shankar Ghat, Teliyarganj in Prayagraj.
