FiveGen Z slang and what they mean 

Every generation has its own slang words, and if you aren’t keeping up with them, you might be left scratching your head. Gen Z encompasses anyone born in the late nineties, and like all generations, they have their own slang and lingo that can sometimes sound like a completely new language. So, if you don’t want to be left out of their conversations, you should definitely know these five most trending slang words. 

CHEUGY 

The term “Cheugy”, which is pronounced “chew-gee,” was created in 2013 by Los Angeles-based software developer Gaby Rasson. In 2020, Hallie Cane popularised it with a TikTok video. The word “cheugy” is used to describe anything slightly out-of-date, stereotyped, or off-trend. Examples include wearing a jean jacket, having owls as house decor, visiting Disney World or Disney Land as an adult, and anything that makes reference to Disney. 

DRIP 

Drip was slang for “an unattractive, uninteresting, or colourless individual” in prior generations. Now, it’s a good thing if someone brings up your drip. Your appearance or fashion sense is referred to as “drip,”, especially when it is viewed as extremely stylish or glamorous. 

HEATHER 

In 2020, Conan Grey released his song “Heather,” about unreciprocated feelings for someone who is in love with a perfectin-every way girl named Heather. He says, he wishes he were Heather because everybody always seems to like her. This launched a slew of TikTok videos in which users identified their own Heathers. Heather means you are desirable and very well-liked, with people wanting to be you or be with you. 

POGGERS 

Poggers is a synonym of the term “POG,” which is an expression of appreciation, admiration, or joy. This term was coined by the Twitch community. Poggers is the title of an emote depicting the cartoon character “Pepe the frog” exhibiting excitement. “Awesome, cool, amazing” is the most common definition for Poggers on Snapchat, Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. 

BUSSIN 

“Bussin” is an adjective used when something is extremely delicious. Usually when people say “bussin”, they are talking about food. In March 2021, a TikTok video about hot sauce on fried chicken posted by user @chinaglivens. He used it to particularly describe excellent cuisine, and the sound gained popularity among a larger audience after becoming viral.
