Five Arrested in Goa for Stealing Sunburn 2023 Passes Worth Rs 82 Lakhs

Goa police have apprehended five individuals for their alleged involvement in the theft of passes for the Sun Burn music festival, an annual electronic dance music festival. The stolen passes are estimated to be worth Rs 82,50,000, according to the authorities.

The incident came to light when Arvind Kumar, a complainant and owner of S.M. Traders, reported that some of his employees had stolen 600 ‘Sunburn 2023’ passes. Subsequently, an FIR under section 381 IPC was registered, and an immediate investigation was initiated by the police.

Anjuna SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) Mapusa, Jivba Dalvi, stated that during the investigation, dedicated teams were formed to identify and apprehend the accused individuals. The suspects, namely Shivam Chari, Mahesh Gawas, Manjit Gawas, Yashin Mulla, and Sidhhanagouda Hanchinal, all residents of Ponda in South Goa, were successfully located and arrested.

The accused individuals, who were found to be employees of the complainant, had stolen passes worth Rs. 60,00,000. The police conducted a recovery operation, retrieving the stolen passes from the possession of the accused. The investigation is ongoing, and appropriate legal action will be taken against the arrested individuals in connection with the theft of Sunburn 2023 passes.
