FIRST CASE OF SACRILEGE IN PUNJAB, 3 DERA FOLLOWERS CONVICTED

In the first instance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib desecration case in Punjab, three Dera Sacha followers have been convicted. The Moga court made the initial and decisive ruling in the Punjab sacrilege case. In the 2015 lawsuit involving the sacrilege in the Malke village of Moga, the court has designated 3 Dera followers as defendants. In the sacrilege case, each were given a 3-year prison term under section 120B, along with Rs 5000 fine.

S.S.P. Moga was also present when the court was pronouncing the punishment.

In Moga village of Malke, the sacred Sri Guru Granth Sahib was torn and thrown into the streets in 2015. Following this, a lawsuit was filed against the eight specified individuals by the sangat of the local area, and the hearing was place today at the honourable court of Moga. Since five Dera followers were brought to court on Thursday for the hearing while three people were deemed Proclaimed Offenders. Police forces were posted in full capacity in and around Moga to avoid any untoward incident.

The primary witness, Gursewak Singh Mal, stated that he has been visiting the court regularly since 2015. Even this matter, which was heard today, was brought by supporters of Dera to the Honorable High Court of Punjab and Haryana where the Court had previously sent it to Moga.
