According to police, at least two people were killed and ten were injured when a fire broke out at a factory in Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area on Tuesday morning.
It was feared that two to three people were trapped inside the factory. The firefighting and rescue operations have been carried out by the Delhi Fire Services, according to police, who added that the exact cause of the fire had yet to be determined.
Atul Garg, chief of the Delhi Fire Services, said their control room received a call about the fire at 9.35 a.m., and ten fire tenders were dispatched.“Two to three people were rescued while as many are feared to be trapped inside,” said Garg.
Devesh Kumar Mahla, deputy police commissioner (outer-north), said the fire started in a slippers manufacturing factory on the second floor of a building. “Two persons aged between 30 and 35 are dead. A few injured have been shifted to a hospital. All are stable and have minor injuries. We are trying to identify the dead persons.”
