An FIR has been registered against 12,051 individuals, including 12,000 unnamed and 51 identified persons, following violent clashes between police and participants at a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) rally in Ranchi. Among those named in the FIR are prominent BJP leaders, including Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi, former Union Minister Arjun Munda, MoS Defense Sanjay Seth, and party spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo, according to Ranchi Police.
The clash occurred during the BJYM’s ‘Yuva Aakrosh Rally’ held on August 23, aimed at protesting against the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government. The rally, which saw the participation of top BJP leaders from the state, including Marandi, Seth, and Munda, was organized to highlight issues such as corruption, unemployment, and women’s safety under the current state government.
Union Minister Sanjay Seth, addressing the rally, stated, “Corruption is at its peak in Jharkhand, youth are not getting employment, and women’s safety is the biggest concern. The Hemant Soren government will have to answer for these failures.”
The protest comes ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand, with the BJP gearing up to intensify its campaign against the state government.
The FIR highlights the growing political tension in the state as the election season approaches, with the BJP looking to corner the Soren government on various fronts.
