File defamation case over “misleading” news, Lalan Singh resigned constituency issues

Janata Dal (United) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh) has refuted the reports circulating in certain sections of the media regarding his resignation as party chief.

He has described these reports as “untrue and misleading” and clarified that he voluntarily stepped down due to his busy schedule related to his constituency work. Lalan Singh emphasized that such reports are damaging to his reputation.

“The news was published prominently in a leading newspaper and some news channels showed that I had to resign in an attempt to make Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav the Chief Minister. A news item has also been published that on December 20, a meeting of a dozen MLAs was held in the office of a minister in which I was also present. The report has talked about a rift in JD-U. This news is completely misleading, untrue and tarnishes my image,” the statement said.

He expressed his disappointment that such false news was published to tarnish his image and questioned the integrity of his 37-year-long association with Nitish Kumar.

The JD (U) leader emphasized that his decision to step down was made with the consent of the Chief Minister, and Nitish Kumar took over the responsibility. He asserted that those who spread and publish such misleading news will face consequences.

Lalan Singh reaffirmed that the Janata Dal (U) remains united under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, who is widely accepted by the party. Furthermore, Lalan Singh announced his intention to send a legal notice regarding the dissemination of this misleading news and stated that he would file a defamation case.
