Farooq Abdullah urges swift J&K polls, stresses unity in I.N.D.I.A alliance

National Conference President Farooq Abdullah questioned the prolonged delay in conducting elections in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that justice should be promptly delivered to the people of the Union Territory, who are an integral part of India.
Addressing reporters in Delhi, Farooq Abdullah expressed concern over the absence of elections in Jammu and Kashmir for six to seven years, emphasizing the need for equitable treatment. “We are also a part of India. We should also get justice,” he asserted. Reflecting on the recent results of the Assembly polls in five states, Abdullah urged parties within the I.N.D.I.A bloc to intensify their efforts collectively. “Defeat and victory keep happening. We should learn from victories and defeats. This defeat will not make a difference to the Indian alliance. We will have to work harder. We have to work in a synchronized manner. We have a long way to go,” he stated.

Farooq Abdullah, who arrived in Delhi earlier today to attend the winter session of Parliament, called for a constructive approach during the session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing reporters before the session, urged opposition parties to use this “golden opportunity” for constructive discussions rather than expressing frustration over election defeats. “The country has rejected negativity. This is a golden opportunity for my friends in the opposition. We urge and pray for the cooperation of everyone.

Rather than venting out their anger at defeat (in assembly elections), they should take lessons from this defeat, shun the idea of negativity that has been there for the last nine years and approach the session with positivity,” PM Modi emphasized. Highlighting the significance of Parliament as the temple of democracy, PM Modi stressed its crucial role in fulfilling public aspirations and strengthening the foundation of a developed India. The Winter Session of Parliament commenced today, following the declaration of results for Assembly elections in four states. The session is set to conclude on December 22, featuring discussions on various national issues.
