According to police, they detained two people and confiscated a sizable amount of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with a value of Rs 25.20 lakh on 17 May Tuesday in Aizawl, Mizoram, India.
Laltanpui (42) of Vairengte Kawngthar veng in Kolasib district and Lallungmuana (40), of N. Vanlaiphai Rawlkhang veng in Serchhip district, were the two people who were detained.
Acting on a tip, Mizoram police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Special Branch (SB) team raided the two defendants’ joint possession late last night and found counterfeit currency totaling Rs 25,20,000.
1007 notes with a value of Rs 2000 and 1012 notes with a value of Rs 500 made up the seized FICN.
According to the Vairengte Police Station, “Further investigation into the matter is underway for forward and backward linkages.”
