The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is sure to be the biggest beneficiary of the “Pawar vs Pawar” (uncle-nephew) rebellion in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), being fuelled by Devendra Fadnavis for the last several months.
In a way, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister has hit many targets with one arrow. First of all, he managed to break the Maha Vikas Aghadi in which Shiv Sena, Uddhav, NCP and National Congress came together. The Opposition has become weak after Ajit Pawar joined the BJP camp.
By doing this, the BJP has achieved a number of goals in the state like breaking the NCP, making MLAs, who came with Ajit, as ministers.
Most importantly, Eknath Shinde’s unbridled grip over the state politics has also been tightened. And now after the arrival of both Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, BJP is no longer helpless. Ajit Pawar also has the same number of MLAs like Shinde. In such a situation, the bullying of Eknath Shinde has also came to an end. Just a few days back, Maharashtra’s advertisements had declared Eknath Shinde as Maharashtra’s most popular CM, and Devendra Fadnavis was on the second number, leading to a strained relationship between the BJP and Shinde.
