A Special Court on Tuesday listed AAP leader Manish Sisodia’s bail matter in CBI case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam for 24 March for the filing of written submissions by CBI and filing of relevant judgments.
The update comes in the backdrop of the CBI opposing the bail plea of the former deputy CM of the national capital, Sisodia. In a statement CBI stated that they have prescribed the 60 days chargesheet after the arrest of Sisodia.
The agency claimed that “Sisodia was arrested on 26 February, 2023, and if released on bail now he will jeopardize our investigation as the destruction of evidence was a constant practice.”
“If he is granted bail, it will scuttle and compromise our investigation as the influence and interference is writ large,” CBI further added. Meanwhile, a special public prosecutor of the agency, Advocate DP Singh submitted that the former AAP leader said that he destroyed mobile phones as he wanted to upgrade. However, there wasn’t any up-gradation done.
CBI also stated that while South Group was residing in Oberoi between 14-17 March, 2021, they prepared a note and took a printout. They received 36 pages of photocopies. Meetings were held, and the printout was completed.
While opposing the bail plea, DP Singh said that, “According to our investigation, he did this to destroy the chat. He might not be at flight risk, but he is a definite risk who will destroy evidence, this cannot be ignored.”
