Excise department’s team cracks down on clubs and bars in the metropolis

The excise department’s team conducted raids on two prominent clubs and bars in the metropolis, seizing unaccounted liquor without permits or holograms. During the operation, officials’ teams conducted an inspection at “The Pablos Club” located on Firozpur Road. Throughout this crackdown, officials seized three crates of liquor that were found without holograms, confiscated by the team on the spot. This operation was carried out under the directives of Excise Officer Harjot Singh Bedi, led by Excise Inspector and police staff, as per the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (P.C.S) Excise Uday Deep Singh Siddhu and Assistant Commissioner Excise Indrajit Singh Nagpal. It should be noted that this action has been taken in view of the festive season, where it’s also been reported that in the coming days, there might be rigorous checking and actions taken against other clubs, restaurants, bars, and licensed contractors.According to information received from departmental authorities, the city is gearing up for parties in almost every club, restaurant, and bar due to Christmas and New Year’s.

This will likely result in increased consumption of alcohol, leading to higher liquor sales. To fulfill this demand, various types of tactics are employed, including selling cheaper alcohol. Officials have also received information that liquor from various states will be sold in Ludhiana. Based on this, officials have intensified surveillance and formed checking teams to carry out actions in different parts of the city.

The department’s actions serve as a warning for those contractors who are selling liquor without permits, clandestinely dealing in crates even today. Officials warn that if any contractor is found doing so, strict actions and fines will be imposed upon apprehension. Penalties have been imposed on the club where the operation took place. Information obtained from departmental officials suggests that investigations are ongoing in the case. Officials stated that the liquor bottles seized lacked “Packet Trace,” making it difficult to track their origins, which complicates identifying where the liquor was purchased from. They mentioned that inquiries into the source of the liquor will be undertaken rigorously and if it’s found to be sold by a contractor, strict actions will be taken against the outlet. Authorities mentioned that the department has prepared to take action against violators of the excise regulations, and appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with the law.
