A Rummy card game basically is played for friendly betting and gambling. In most cases, the gambling is just for sport. Rummy is basically played with 13 cards but this can be changed based on the number of players. If there are more players than 4, the cards dealt can be lower. 13 cards are the golden standard however as this allows for the players to make 4 sets, one of 4 and 3 of 3 cards each. The remaining card becomes the closing card of the player. Playing Rummy | Rules and How To

13 cards are dealt to each player and a random joker is picked (Wild Joker) and placed on the table face up from the remaining pile of cards. The opening card is also placed face up and the game can start from the person who won the last round going clockwise. 

The person may either choose the opening card or pick one up from the pile placed on the table and discard one of their own cards and the game moves to the next person until a player declares rummy. To form a rummy, a person must have 4 sets of cards with them:

• Set 1 with different combinations and same letter (example: A in all 4)
• Set 2 with same numbers and different suites (example: 5 in 3 suites)
• Pure Sequence with consecutive numbers in same suite
• Impure Sequence consecutive with a joker

Jokers can be used 4 times in the entire but the rummy pure sequence cannot include a joker. Atleast 2 sets need to be present to declare a Rummy by the Winner to reveal cash prize.
