The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) raided the home of Congress lawmaker and Shivamogga District Cooperative Central (DCC) Bank chairman RM Manjunath Gowda on Thursday as part of its probe into an alleged fake gold scam at the bank.
ED agents have raided Gowda’s home in Sharavathi Nagar, Shivamogga, and his farm near Karakuchi in the district’s Tirthahalli taluk. The raids are still taking place.
Previously, the ED had requested certain papers from the Shivamogga DCC Bank. On September 28, Gowda, the State Coordinator of the KPCC (Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee) Cooperative Division, was chosen chairman of Shivamogga DCC Bank. He has held this position since 1997.
