In a surprising incident that has drawn attention within military ranks, two British soldiers were reportedly found engaging in sexual activity inside an Apache helicopter. The incident, revealed recently, allegedly occurred in 2016 at the Otterburn range in Northumberland, with details coming to light only due to a computer error.
According to The Mirror, ground crew discovered the soldiers, both reportedly under the influence of alcohol, partially undressed in the cockpit of the £8.5 million Apache AH-64 gunship. The unusual scene unfolded as ground staff were completing routine maintenance and fitting rain covers on the helicopter. Noticing the gunship swaying and hearing strange sounds, crew members inspected the aircraft to find two individuals crammed into the cockpit.
The male soldier was reportedly still in uniform, while the female soldier wore civilian clothing. Both soldiers were detained on-site until officers from the 653 Squadron chain of command arrived to address the situation.
A report submitted to the Military Aviation Authority noted, “It became apparent the rear cockpit was occupied by two people engaged in sexual intercourse. Both were naked from the waist down.”
The incident, though dated, has left a lasting impression on military personnel due to its uncharacteristic nature and the circumstances of its revelation.
