A 48-year-old drawing teacher employed in a Thane city school in Maharashtra has been arrested by the police for allegedly molesting a Class 10 student. The incident, which occurred more than a month ago, led to the teacher’s arrest.
According to the police, the accused, Yogesh Ahire, is alleged to have misbehaved with the victim on August 9 when she visited the teachers’ room in her school located in Kalwa to call the drawing teacher. The accused reportedly touched her inappropriately and used objectionable language.
The traumatized girl immediately returned to her classroom and broke down in tears. A concerned classmate accompanied her to the principal’s office, where the victim bravely recounted the distressing encounter in the teachers’ room. The principal subsequently summoned the accused and demanded an explanation for his actions.
In response to the incident, the victim’s parents sought the assistance of a local political leader, who raised the matter with the school authorities.
The police have taken action against Ahire, charging him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the case, aiming to ensure justice for the victim.
