Dr. Ambedkar Institute organises intra-college patisserie competition

Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition, Sector – 42 D, a leading institute providing hospitality education under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, organized Bake-Off 2024, an Intra-College Bakery and Patisserie Competition. The winners of this competition will have the golden opportunity to represent our institute in the North India Patisserie Competition.

A total of 30 students participated in the first round, which consisted of a written examination. Out of these, 6 students qualified for the next round, in which they had three hours to prepare different types of rich bread, cakes, and similar desserts. They were judged on the appearance, taste, creativity, and weight of the product. Senior Pastry Chef Ashish Gupta from Holiday Inn Zirakpur was invited as the external judge for the competition.

The audience and our Institute Principal, Sitesh Srivastav, who was on the judging panel, were very impressed with the skills and creativity of each student. It was a close competition, and it was hard for the jury to make up their decision. Ultimately, they came to a decision, and the winners of the competition are: Aditi Kohli, Abhishek Chandel and Karanveer Singh Sethi.
“The competition was an excellent opportunity for the students to showcase their delectable culinary skills,” said the Principal of our Institute.

Chef Ashish said, “I am impressed with the originality presented by the students and their breathtaking skills. It was certainly a tasty event with a great spirit of healthy competition and a willingness to fight for a place at the table of aspiring chefs. It was a tough job for me to judge them and pick up the best out of them.
