The doctors’ strike called by Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) had a mixed effect in the state on Wednesday. Health Minister Anil Vij’s strike in Ambala district was ineffective. At the same time, HCMSA has today announced to go on indefinite strike from December 29 regarding their demands.
Association head Dr. Rajesh Khayaliya said that we are firm on our demands. An indefinite strike will be started by stopping emergency services from December 29. If the situation worsens in the state, the government will be responsible for it.
On the other hand, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has called the doctors’ strike illegitimate. Vij said that the main demand of doctors that specialist cadre should be separate has been accepted. Doctors are very intelligent persons and most of the doctors are working in Haryana.
The government has started taking strict steps regarding the strike of government doctors. On Wednesday, 931 out of 3466 doctors remained on strike. Doctors have announced to go on indefinite strike from December 29. On the other hand, DG Health Dr. RS Poonia has asked for the list of striking doctors from all the district civil surgeons.
According to the data of the Health Department, 931 doctors remained absent during the strike across the state on Wednesday. Maximum 90 doctors were absent in Gurugram, 85 in Rewari, 77 in Hisar and Panchkula, 76 in Palwal and 70 in Jhajjar.
Major demands
- Creating separate cadre for specialist doctors. Although, CM Manohar Lal had also announced 2 years ago, but it was not implemented.
- To do PG (Post Graduate) while in service, two bonds of Rs 1 crore each have to be filled. Like before, there is a demand to increase this amount to Rs 50 lakh.
- Senior medical officers should be made through promotion instead of direct recruitment.
