District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar discusses quarterly progress

The quarterly meeting of the District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, for the quarter ending on December 31, 2023, was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar. The meeting was attended by Avtar Singh, Additional District & Sessions Judge-I, Ms. Surabhi Prashar, Secretary, DLSA, SAS Nagar, Sh. Anish Goyal, Chief Judicial Magistrate, SAS Nagar, Sh. Inder Pal, CMFO, Ms. Rupinderdeep Kaur, DSP (Headquarter), Satnam Singh, District Attorney, SAS Nagar, Ravi Inder Singh, DPRO, S.K. Sinha, Advocate, and Sh. Jaspal Singh Dappar, Chairman, Adhoc Committee, District Bar Association, SAS Nagar.

During the meeting, the work done by DLSA, SAS Nagar during the previous quarter was assessed. Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar, informed that legal services were provided to 405 legal aid seekers during the last quarter. To settle the cases through mediation, 297 cases were referred to the Mediation Centre. Besides this, sensitization programs in the last quarter were organized for investigating officers to comply with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India regarding legal aid to persons at pre-arrest, arrest, and remand stages. A sensitization program was also organized for Special Juvenile Police Officers to adhere to the rules of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
