In a recent judgment, the district court has handed down a stern sentence in a check bounce case involving Sucha Ram, a resident of village Dhamla Pinjore. The court, taking a firm stand against the rising incidents of check bounces, convicted Sucha Ram and sentenced him to one year in prison.
The court proceedings included arguments from both sides, with the complainant, Ramandeep Singh, alleging a breach of trust by his friend of eight years, Sucha Ram. According to Singh, on August 20, 2018, Sucha Ram had approached him for a loan of Rs 4 lakh, promising to repay the amount within four months. Trusting his friend, Singh extended the loan, and in return, Sucha Ram issued a check of Rs 4 lakh dated January 28, 2019.
However, when Singh attempted to deposit the check, it bounced due to insufficient funds in Sucha Ram’s account. Following the bounced check, Singh served a legal notice to Sucha Ram, leading to the filing of a check bounce case in the district court. After careful consideration of the arguments, the court not only sentenced Sucha Ram to one year of imprisonment but also ordered him to return the check value of Rs 4 lakh within a month. The presiding judge emphasized the need for strict measures to curb the growing instances of check bounce crimes, highlighting the severity of the offense. During the court proceedings, Sucha Ram pleaded for mercy, but the judge remained resolute in addressing the increasing challenges posed by check bounce incidents. The conviction and sentencing serve as a strong message to potential offenders, underlining the court’s commitment to dealing firmly with individuals engaged in fraudulent financial activities.
