To intensify the collective effort against drugs, the District Administration and District Police reiterated that nobody involved in drug trafficking and leading the youth into addiction would be spared.
Addressing the second awareness camp organized by the District Police under the leadership of SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Aashika Jain emphasized that the fight against drugs is not solely the responsibility of the Punjab Government or Punjab Police. It is a collective duty and responsibility to eradicate drugs from the soil of Punjab. Mrs. Jain stated, “We are consistently performing our enforcement and awareness duties, and now the people should come forward to support our efforts by providing information about drug traffickers and victims.”
She highlighted the availability of the WhatsApp helpline number 80541-00112, where residents can send messages, and the District Police, monitored directly by SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, will address their concerns.
Engaging with the youth and seeking feedback on drug-related issues, Mrs. Jain assured strong action against drug peddlers and offered support to those seeking recovery. She underscored the District Police’s commitment, in coordination with the district administration, to eliminate the drug menace.
SP (Rural) Manpreet Singh and ASP Derabassi Mrs. Darpan Ahluwalia assured residents of unwavering police action against drug peddlers. They mentioned that the police are already assisting victims seeking de-addiction treatment, as per the instructions of SSP SAS Nagar. The officials provided an example of recent action under section 27 of the NDPS act, where all three arrested persons were put on de-addiction treatment with court permission under section 64 (A). They expressed confidence that the area, currently known as a hotspot for drugs, would soon transform into a drug-free zone.
SHO Ajitesh Kaushal briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the Derabassi Police Station’s actions against drugs. The District Administration of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar has issued an appeal to residents, urging them to report instances of drug trafficking or victims through the dedicated WhatsApp number 80541-00112. The helpline is actively monitored by the Senior Superintendent of Police.
