Dhanush confirmed to essay Music Maestro Illaiyaraaja in his biopic

According to trusted sources, it is confirmed that National Award-winning star Dhanush will be playing Isaignani Illaiyaraaja in his biopic. Sources added that the movie will go on floors in 2024 and will release in 2025. This is likely to be a huge project given that it is about one of India’s music legends and has uber-talented Dhanush playing the role. The project is said to be produced by Connekkt Media.
A few months back Yuvan Shankar Raja had said that he would love to see Dhanush play his father Ilaiyaraaja in his biopic and the stars seem to have aligned. This is the first biopic Dhanush will be seen in and it’s an iconic role.
The Captain Miller star is one of Ilaiyaraaja’s biggest fans and this role will definitely bag him some awards, believe fans. As we know, Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja has composed over 7000 songs for over 1000 feature films; and performed over 20,000 concerts during his career of over 50 years. He has received many honours, including the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. ‘Maestro’ was the title conferred on him by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London.
Since his Tamil film debut in 2002, Dhanush has seen a career graph that has taken him from milestone to milestone. From Tamil cinema, he moved to Hindi cinema and in 2022, he officially entered Hollywood with The Gray Man in which he played Avik San.
Currently, Dhanush has two projects on hand – his film D50 which is written and directed by him for Sun Pictures; and a Sekhar Kammula film. Captain Miller will be released in December 2023. The director for the Ilaiyaraaja film has still not been announced. Interestingly, Connekkt Media is also the producer of Mohanlal’s pan-Indian film Vrushabha. We tried contacting Connekkt Media but couldn’t reach them.
