The Import regulations are modified by the Director General of Foreign Trade for raw cashew nuts so that processing wherein facilitating the operating within Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and export-oriented units (EOUs) are being exempted from the minimum import price (MIP) requirement.
It has also been stated in the notification that is being imports by 100% EOUs and SEZs units the same would not be subject to the Minimum Import Price (MIP) on Cashew kernels (broken/whole), wherein the subjects to the restriction that they not being sold into the domestic tariff area.
Therefore, the existing policy of Cashew kernel and broken, is that the import being free if CIF value being above Rs. 680 per Kg. Therefore, as per the revised policy the import is free if CIF value being above Rs. 680 per Kg. MIP conditions, however, it has been stated that the same shall not be applicable for imports by 100% EOUs and units in the SEZ. SEZs and EoUs units shall not be allowed by the court for selling the imported Cashew Kernels into Domestic Tariff Area (DTA).
