Nitin Agrawal, IPS, DG BSF, visited HQ Spl DG BSF Western Command in Chandigarh, where he was welcomed by Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, IPS, Spl DG BSF (WC), Satish Budakoti, IG (Ops), and other senior officers.
After a formal interaction with officers, an operational briefing was conducted, during which DG Agrawal was briefed about the current security scenario on the Western borders with Pakistan, spanning from the Line of Control in Kashmir to the international borders in the state of Gujarat.
During the review of the security scenario, DG BSF was also informed about the launch of the “Winter Ops Alert Exercise” scheduled from January 19th to January 31st, 2024. The exercise aims to minimize incidents of infiltration and the smuggling of drugs/weapons across the border.
The DG BSF commended the efforts of field formations under the Western Command for effectively dominating the border and successfully seizing 126 drones and 595 kgs of heroin, along with a significant quantity of arms and ammunition in the past year.
