The Santacruz police have recently filed a new case of cheating against Ahuja Developers, its directors, and their Chinese partners. The complaint alleges that the accused cheated a flat buyer of Rs 1.33 crore by not registering the agreement and subsequently selling the booked flat to a third party.
The individuals named in the case include Jagdish Ahuja, Gautam Ahuja, Chandras Kotian, Ashok Gacheria, and Chinese company officials Jia Vei, Liyank Shaung, Ya Wang, Snehanjali SB Developers, and Hive Carbon Zero Developers Private Limited.
Earlier in January, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police had arrested Jagdish Ahuja in connection with a Rs 27-crore cheating case where flat buyers alleged non-delivery of the promised flats.
In this latest case, Prashant Bhat, a senior official of Sony Pictures, filed the complaint. He claimed that in 2014, his father, Mahendra Bhat, booked a flat in the upcoming O2 project at Sion-Chunabhatti by Snehanjali and SB Developers. Mahendra Bhat paid Rs 1.09 crore to the developer and was supposed to receive a flat on the 11th floor, according to the sale agreement. The project was expected to be completed by 2017, as per MahaRERA. However, even in 2019, the project remained unfinished.
An allotment letter was issued in Mahendra Bhat’s name, but he passed away in 2018.
The developer informed Prashant that they were reallocating a different flat on the same floor, demanding an additional Rs 4.05 lakh. Subsequently, the Chinese company took over the project, and after Mahendra Bhat’s death, Prashant discovered that the flat his father had booked had already been sold to a third party named Ram Gupta.
