Deputy Commissioner reaches out to farmers to manage stubble without burning

To sensitise farmers about the optimum utilisation of stubble management machinery and prevent burning incidents, the District Administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, established rapport with farmers to apprise them of the substantial subsidy schemes available on the machinery.
Meeting farmers at Banur and Manauli Surat, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the Bhagwant Singh Mann government is concerned about burning incidents causing damage to the environment, flora, and fauna. She emphasized that the National Green Tribunal and the Apex Court of India have directed states to curb stubble burning incidents. Therefore, adopting an environment-friendly solution with the help of highly subsidized Crop Residue Management Machinery is crucial.
Interacting with farmers at Banur, she assured them of making the necessary machinery available as per demand and encouraged them to apply when the portal opens on behalf of Panchayats and Co-operative Societies.
She mentioned that the district is increasing its stubble fuel-based boiler capacity in the industry, raising the existing capacity to 4 lakh Metric Tonnes per annum, enabling the supply of stubble to these industries.
Highlighting the benefits of balers for ex-situ disposal of stubble, she urged farmers to opt for the maximum number of balers to address the stubble burning issue.
Similarly, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Mrs. Sonam Chaudhary visited Basma village and appreciated the role of farmers in reducing the number of fire incidents. In this village, the number of burning incidents has shown a decline from seven to a single case.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain stated that they are analyzing villages with the highest count of burning and minimalistic or zero cases to devise strategies accordingly.
