Delivery personnel arrested for pilfering 8 phones from shipments

Two individuals employed as delivery boys at an e-commerce company’s warehouses have been apprehended for stealing smartphones from customers’ parcels. The stolen items include eight brand-new cellphones valued at Rs. 54,000.
The suspects have been identified as Ramzan Shaikh, 23, and Samir Malik, 26. Currently, two cellphones worth Rs. 23,000 have been recovered from their possession.
The thefts transpired in October.
On October 28, a manager from a company contracted by an e-commerce entity filed a complaint with the Malad police station.
To trace the stolen phones, the police monitored the product details, ultimately locating an end user who had purchased one of the pilfered phones. This led them to a dealer, who informed the police about the accused selling the phone to him. Sub-Inspector Shivaji Shinde and his team successfully pinpointed both suspects and took them into custody.
“The duo, responsible for picking up parcels from the company’s warehouse, neglected to scan or record product details in the company’s computer system.
They then offered the phones to external dealers at prices below the market rate,” explained Senior Inspector Ravi Adane.
While Ramzan resides in Sion Koliwada, Samir is a resident of Malwani.
