Delhi’s air quality remains in the ‘poor’ category : SAFAR

The national capital’s air quality remained in the “poor category” on Saturday morning with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 204, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)
Gurugram continued to have “poor” air quality, with a reading of 228 for the city. While Noida’s AQI was 201, which is considered to be in the poor zone. The AQI at IIT Delhi was 197, which is just barely over the poor level.
The AQI for the Mathura Road and the Airport area was both 215. In the vicinity of Lodhi Road, the air quality index was 208, while at Ayanagar, it was 166, placing it solely in the “moderate category.”

Delhi University and the Dhirpur region had poor air quality, with total AQI values of 201 and 221, respectively.
When the Air Quality Index is between 0 and 100, it is good; when it is between 100 and 200, it is moderate; when it is between 200 and 300, it is bad; when it is between 300 and 400, it is very poor; and when it is between 400 and 500 or above, it is severe.

After being in the “moderate” category on Republic Day, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) fell to the “poor” category earlier on Friday.
The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), on Friday, said that the conditions are expected to worsen further to the ‘very poor’ in the next few days.
According to the advisory issued by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and children should reduce longer or heavy exertion and outdoor activity.
To escape the city’s increasing pollution, the ministry has encouraged citizens to use N-95 or P-100 face masks and to quit going outside in the early morning and after dark.
