Delhi: Six suffocate to death after burning mosquito coil falls on mattress

As many as six people died of suffocation and two others were injured after a fire broke out in a house in Delhi’s Shastri Park area on Friday, as per the police.

In fact, six people lost their lives because they inhaled carbon monoxide produced from the burning mosquito coil, which had fallen on the mattress during the night. After getting information, the police team rushed to the spot and took the injured to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital.

Those who were sleeping lost consciousness due to toxic fumes and later died due to suffocation, said DCP Joy Tirkey of the North East district. He further added that injured people are getting burn treatment in hospitals. Further investigation is in progress to reach the bottom of the case.
