Delhi Police reaches Mumbai to arrest man who urinated on woman onboard Air India flight

The man who allegedly peed at an elderly woman traveling in business class on an Air India flight will be arrested at the earliest by the Delhi police. Delhi police have reached the accused resident of Mumbai.

“The accused is a resident of Mumbai, but his possible location is in some other state and the police team has reached there. We will arrest the accused at the earliest,” Delhi Police said.

Earlier on Wednesday a team was formed to nab the man who allegedly urinated on an elderly co-passenger.

Under sections 354, 509, and 510 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 23 of the Indian Aircraft Act, an FIR has been registered against the man on Wednesday.

Earlier on 26 November the incident took place on an Air India flight from John F Kennedy international airport in New York to Delhi the flight was on its way.

Recounting the harrowing experience woman called the peeing incident “traumatic”. An investigation has been launched by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on an onboard passenger man in an Air India US flight urinated on a woman co-passenger, a senior citizen, seated in a business class seat.

The woman filed a written complaint and stated that the man who urinated was in a fully inebriated state who unzipped his pants and relieved himself in a business class.

Meanwhile, the woman, at last, stated that the crew was unable to manage the situation which was a very sensitive and traumatic situation.

Moreover, Air India airlines imposed 30 days travel ban on the man who allegedly peed at an elderly woman traveling in business class.

“Air India has taken a very serious note of the incident, where a passenger behaved in an unacceptable and undignified manner on the New York-Delhi flight that caused extreme distress to a fellow passenger. A police complaint has already been lodged in this case and Air India is committed to assisting the law enforcement agencies as well as regulatory authorities to ensure that justice is delivered to the aggrieved passenger,” the Air India spokesperson said.

Taking a first step Air India has banned the man for 30 days and said, “We have also constituted an internal committee to probe lapses on the part of Air India’s crew and address the deficiencies that delayed quick redressal of the situation. We are also in regular contact with the aggrieved passenger and her family during the investigation and reporting process.”
