Delhi Police deny permission for Hanuman Jayanti procession in Jahangirpuri

The Delhi Police refused the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and another group permission to hold processions in the national capital’s Jahangirpuri area on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on 6 April.

According to Delhi Police, the VHP and another group requested approval to hold processions for Hanuman Jayanti but were denied due to the law and order situation.

On Hanuman Jayanti last year, clashes erupted between two communities in the region during shoba yatra. According to police, elaborate security preparations have been put in place in the Jahangirpuri area in preparation for Hanuman Jayanti. The area is being patrolled by Delhi Police and Paramilitary Force troops.
