Delhi High Court To Union Govt: Ensure Periodic Audit, Maintain Highest Standards Of Safety And Security At Railway Station Across Country

The Delhi High Court in the case Kush Kalra v. Union Of India And Ors observed and has directed the Union Government for ensuring the highest standards of safety and security at all the railway stations across the country after conducting the periodic audit of the said situation.
The Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Saurabh Banerjee in the case observed and has disposed of the PIL moved by one Kush Kalra wherein concerns are raised with regards to the safety measures at the railway stations in the country.
In the present case, the PIL moved stated that the lack of anti collusion and alcohol checking devices, the emergency telephones, the CCTV cameras, metal detector doors and hand held metal detectors.
The court in the case observed wherein an affidavit is filed by the Union Government and stated that it reveals that the Indian Railways has installed CCTV Cameras, luggage scanning devices, door fame metal detectors, hand held metal detector, body cameras and dogs, the Sniffer and Tracker, automatic train protection system etc. at the railway stations in order to ensure the safety and security of passengers.
Further, it has been stated by the said court that the respondent in the case shall ensure that there is a periodic audit in respect of the safety and security measures in the Indian Railways and after conducting periodic audit and assessing the situation.
Therefore, the Government of India needs to ensure maintenance of highest standards of safety and security at Railway Stations all over the country.
Adding to it, the court stated that the safety and the security of passengers is of paramount importance to the Railways which have been taking of all the necessary safeguards in order to ensure that there being no such breach in respect of safety and security.
Accordingly, the court disposed of the
present PIL.
