Delhi High Court: Committee Constituted; Asks To File Report; Uniform Election For All Bar Associations In One Day

The Delhi High Court in the case Lalit Sharma and Ord v. Union Of India And Ors and other connected matters observed and has constituted the committee for examining whether the uniform election of all the Bar Associations in the national capital can be held of in a single day.
The Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula in the case observed and has constituted the said committee which is headed by Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva.
Therefore, the other members of the committee include Justice Jasmeet Singh, Justice Manoj Jain, Chairman of Bar Council of Delhi K. K. Manan, who being the President of the Delhi High Court Bar Association Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur and the Chairman of Coordination Committee of All District Bar Associations of Delhi.
The court in its order passed on July 28, 2023 stated that the said committee is requested for submitting the report in respect of preparation of I. D. Card for lawyers, Radio Frequency Tag or the Sticker with regards to the vehicles of lawyers and for holding uniform election in respect of all Bar Councils in one single day.
Further, the bench in the case observed and has requested the committee in order to submit the report within the period of our weeks.
In the present case, the court was hearing the plea which is moved by an advocate which relates to holding of a uniform election in one single day for all Bar Associations.
The plea filed has been clubbed with another plea which was moved by various lawyers and members of Bar Associations of Delhi in 2021 wherein it challenged the bar Associations (the Constitution, Recognition and Conduct of Election) Rules, 2019.
Accordingly, the court listed the plea for further consideration on September, 06, 2023.
