The national capital government schools will soon have CCTV cameras installed in Delhi government schools so that parents and guardians can get all kinds of information about their children. In 2019, Aam Aadmi Party announced installing CCTV cameras in all government schools to provide a live feed to the parents.
“The PWD is executing the project of construction of classrooms and schools and there is a plan of installing CCTVs in classrooms. There is also a plan to share the feed with the parents. This is all education department’s brainchild we are merely executing it,” a source told PTI.
The government took this step to ensure students’ safety and transparency in the teaching system. According to the education department, they plan to ensure transparency with parents and to tell them what their kids are studying.
Moreover, to make live CCTV video footage available to the parents, they will be given individual secured login credentials with individual IDs and passwords with signed consent forms. The authorised permission will be given only to the guardians and parents. The mobile numbers will be linked to the system with the help of software.
However, the principals will compile the student details in an excel format and submit it to the PWD, and later the details will be uploaded by PWD in the software.
