Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused central investigative agencies of attempting to label him as corrupt “by any means necessary” during a public event on Friday.
Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kejriwal challenged him to prove even a paisa’s worth of corruption against him, and if found guilty, he offered to be hanged publicly.
Kejriwal’s statement comes after he was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 16 in relation to the excise policy case. His former deputy, Manish Sisodia, is currently imprisoned in connection with the same case. The CBI had summoned Kejriwal as a witness.
The Delhi Chief Minister alleged that the central agencies, including the CBI, Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax department, and police, were targeting him with the sole purpose of proving that he was a thief and engaged in corrupt practices. He emphasised that if he were found to be corrupt, then no honest individual would exist in the world.
Kejriwal made these remarks while inaugurating 80 ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ for the people of Punjab. He urged PM Modi to end the ongoing “drama” and focus on governance instead.
