An IndiGo flight from Bhubaneswar to Delhi made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Monday morning after one of its engines experienced a technical issue as a result of a bird strike.
According to BPIA director Prasanna Pradhan, IndiGo aircraft 6E-2065 from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi took off around 7:50 a.m. from Bhubaneswar airport. However, after around 10-15 minutes of flight, the pilot discovered a technical fault in one of the engines and was forced to land again. There were 180 people on board.
“The snag may have happened after a bird hit one of the engines. The pilot then brought the plane back to the airport without any issue. The flight ahs been grounded,” said Pradhan.
According to a passenger on board, when the airplane hit a mechanical hitch, many passengers panicked but were reassured by the pilot of their safety. “But the pilot asked us to be calm and landed the flight safely,” said the passenger.
