A case has been registered under sections 376, 420, and 506 against a person who cheated a married woman to the tune of Rs 2 lakh 69 thousand 500 and had physical relations with her on the pretext of getting her married.
Giving information in this regard, Inspector Pushpa Devi said that the woman, a resident of a village under the police station, said in her statement that she works in a hotel near Dana Mandi Gurdaspur and has divorced her husband. He has a daughter from his first marriage, who lives with him. In the year 2022, through social media, she fell in love with Jobanpreet Singh, son of Gurnam Singh, a resident of Jeevanchak. The accused told her that he would marry her and adopt her daughter. After which, the accused took her to a restaurant in Paniyad and to his house in Dorangala and forcibly had sex with her against her will. The female police officer said that the accused, Jobanjot Singh, son of Gurnam Singh, a resident of Jeevanchak police station, Dorangla, committed fraud by fraudulently transferring the amount from the said woman and clearly refused to marry her. Inspector Pushpa Devi said that after investigating the case, a case has been registered against Jobanjot Singh, who was found guilty, and the search for the accused has started.
